Space Systems Engineering is a broad term used to encompass all the disciplines needed in the design and fabrication of projects which must operate in the space environment. These projects include robotic and manned spacecraft, rockets, space stations, rovers, orbital and lunar habitats, surface vehicles and scientific experiments. In order for all of these to function in space, they need a wide variety of automation, real-time systems, communications, propulsion, and guidance.
Just as in industry, our students are drawn from a wide variety of engineering and science disciplines including aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, applied mathematics, computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, chemistry, and physics.
